Bleg: Comment auto-approval

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I currently have to manually approve every commentor the first time they comment (and every time there’s a new email address, WordPress thinks it’s a different person). That sucks for me and the commentors, and especially when I’m away from the keyboard for long stretches of time, it kills the usefulness of the comment area.

So is Akismet enough? Can I just turn off comment moderation? Or is there some WordPress plugin that helps with this? Should I be encouraging people to register by promising to sell their email addresses to Uzbekistani peddlers of bovine porn? Err…. I mean, promising to never sell their email addresses….

Anyway, I’m going to try turning off moderation for a while and see what happens. Akismet is still on. Suggestions in the comment box or by email to $LEFT( “sambal.org”, 3 ) + “@sambal.org”.
