Voting

I received my absentee ballot today. Now starts the interesting part: researching all the ballot measures.

The state publishes summary and analysis of all the measures, as does the League of Women Voters.

So far I'm halfway through Prop 1A "Protection of Local Government Revenues" and I must say that I'm surprised at the stuff the state's been getting away with in shifting proceeds from sales and property taxes between local governments, schools, and the general fund. And another thing -- did you know that proceeds from Vehicle Licensing Fees were primarily targeted for health and social assitance programs? What does one have to do with the other? Who came up with this system?
