I watched Rashomon again, this time with the whole commentary. It was reasonably interesting but repetitive.
One of the things the guy kept going on about were the triangles: the way the three main characters are arranged in scenes where they all appear.
Near the end of the movie, I noticed that the design on the Samurai's pants/kilt/whatever is a mittsu tomoe. This is something I had just learned about in this digression from a Steven Den Beste post. The mittsu tomoe refers to the three-way struggle between the three main characters of the film. Very neat. I wonder why the commentary didn't mention it.
