There is no teleology in physics. By which I mean: even a thorough understanding of ordinary quantum mechanics does not unravel the secrets of the Universe. If by “secrets of the universe” what you mean is, purpose in life.
Which doesn’t mean that doing physics (or whatever, even biology!) can’t be the purpose of some person’s life. Doing science really well is fun. Understanding something very thoroughly is fun. You can get a lot of satisfaction out of it.
